This extension builds on previous operations, where longer freight trains were limited to the Maschen–Fredericia section.

DB Cargo Scandinavia has introduced daily freight trains measuring 835 meters on the Maschen–Malmö corridor.

The adjustment, developed in cooperation between DB Cargo Lab, DB Cargo Scandinavia, and Trafikverket, increases capacity by up to 13% compared to the 740-meter freight trains used on the German network. The extended train length allows for more efficient use of available paths on the Scandinavian–Mediterranean (ScanMed) corridor, supporting higher freight volumes per journey.

Operations run six days a week, with the extended train configuration requiring coordination across multiple infrastructure networks. The project follows ongoing efforts to optimize freight operations across European corridors by increasing train lengths where infrastructure conditions allow.
