The project will develop scalable interface solutions and data collection systems to improve process control and sustainability along the value chain.

Voestalpine Stahl Donawitz GmbH, a company of the voestalpine Metal Engineering Division of the voestalpine Group, and the ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) have received logistics funding from the BMK to pilot an integrated logistics solution for the digitalization and optimization of the rail-bound supply chain at the Donawitz site, including supply and process control.

Voestalpine Stahl Donawitz is the pilot site for the development and validation of the planned cross-supply-chain solution and operates one of the largest rail sidings in Austria. As part of the project, RCG's subsidiary Rail Cargo Logistics - Austria will work on the design and development of scalable interface solutions. The aim is to enable the sustainable digitalization of logistics processes along the entire value chain.

The digitization project is a response to these challenges. Specifically, this means further developing the location management tool, implementing data collection systems such as a video checkpoint system, and creating cross-supply chain interfaces for process integration.

The project, which is being implemented by Schieneninfrastruktur-Dienstleistungsgesellschaft mbH (SCHIG mbH) as part of the logistics funding programme, is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK).
